20th Anniversary of the KU Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis

This year the GPCS Symposium is organized by the KU Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary of founding as an NSF ERC. GPCS members are welcome to learn more about the celebration at this link

Poster Guidelines

Each poster presenter will be allocated a 3' x 4' poster board to which they can pin or clip their poster (you provide the clips if you want them). The board is intended to be landscape orientation and will be supported on an easel. Poster should be put in place no later than the morning coffee break but may be placed as early as 7:30 am September 11, 2023. Poster are to be removed no later than 3:45 pm (during coffee break). Poster left beyond this time may be discarded.

Oral Presentation Guidelines

1) Microsoft PowerPoint is the preferred software. Use widescreen 16:9 formatting. 

2) We request that you provide your presentation on a memory stick or transfer to Alan Allgeier, in advance, because we may require Zoom meeting for select remote participants.

3) For standard oral presentations with 20 min allocation. We ask you to provide 16-17 min prepared remarks and allow 2 min for questions + 1 min for speaker turnover. As with national conferences, time will be enforced to keep the program on schedule. Keynotes with 30 min allocation should provide 25 min of prepared remarks and allow 3 min for questions + 2 min for speaker turnover.

Abstract Submission is closed.

All catalysis researchers are encouraged to submit abstracts for the symposium for oral and poster slots.

Symposium Registration

Registration is now closed. This will be a full capacity event and all attendees must register in advance. 

Registration fees remain affordable: $15 for students and retirees and $50 for all others.

Symposium Time: Check-In and Coffee begins 07:00 September 11, 2023. Oral program: 08:00 - 17:00.

The Organizing Committee recommends the Hampton Inn Lawrence, which is conveniently located for automobile access from I-70 and to the Symposium at the Burge Union. The address is: 2300 W 6th St, Lawrence, KS 66049. There are, however many options in Lawrence. Please note the KU football game is Friday night and we don't think it will impact our attendees.

Please note the Symposium Hotel Block reservation deadline has passed.

Parking Information

GPCS will provide virtual parking passes that require registering license plates... Information about these passes is being emailed to registrants with a unique link to register your vehicle.  You may do the registration as late as the morning of the symposium.  If you are reading this on the morning of September 11, 2023, check your email, which came from nancrisp@ku.edu .  The parking pass is only accepted at:

Allen Fieldhouse Garage (AFPK) 1501 Irving Hill Road Lawrence, KS 66045 (see map below).

Registrants who arrive before 8:30 am should find parking in AFPK.

Overflow parking is also available in the Central District Garage (CDPG) 1583 Ousdahl Road Lawrence, KS 66045, which requires payment by kiosk or the Parkmobile app. Finally, any visitors are welcome to park in a parking garage and pay at your expense directly at the kiosk or via the parkmobile app if you cannot register for the virtual pass.

 NOTICE TO KU REGISTRANTS: By policy you are not eligible for guest virtual parking passes. You may purchase one-day Red Lot passes at the KU Parking website. These are cheaper than the Garage parking locations. 

All city bus service in Lawrence, KS is free to all riders.
