Ana Rita C. Morais

Ana Morais is an Assistant Professor at University of Kansas. She received her PhD in Sustainable Chemistry at NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal in 2018. In 2019, she joined National Renewable Energy Laboratory to work on catalytic conversion of lignin into aromatic platform chemicals. At NREL, she also worked on an organocatalyzed process for polymer deconstruction under the U.S. BOTTLE Consortium. She has published 39 peer-reviewed articles (2853 citations in Google Scholar) and her current research focuses on 1) the use of supercritical CO2 for plastics and biomass depolymerization, and 2) developing chemical and biochemical catalytic processes for lignocellulose valorization.
