Prof. Bala Subramaniam
GPCS is pleased to announce that Professor Bala Subramaniam (University of Kansas, KU) has been selected to receive the 2024 GPCS Award for making seminal contributions in catalysis that promote decarbonization and sustainability.
Bala's discoveries include metal-incorporated mesoporous silicates with tunable acidity and harnessing tunable media to influence rates and selectivity in multiphase catalysis. He has invented technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of chemical processes that make the products of everyday life such as plastics, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and adhesives. Bala is the founder of KU’s Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis (CEBC) that has been advancing sustainable catalysis and engineering for nearly 20 years with strong industry partnerships. He is also a founding board member of the Great Plains Catalysis Society and has been a dedicated volunteer leader since its founding, including service as the society’s president in 2021.
Bala will present a plenary lecture at the GPCS 2024 Fall Symposium August 24 in Norman, OK. Please join us on August 24 at the GPCS 2024 Fall Symposium in Norman, OK to celebrate Bala's Award.
